Tree Planting for World Community Land Trust Day

Friday, May 15 is World Community Land Trust Day. Join Headwaters Community Trust to observe the day at a fun outing where we will plant trees, help address the climate crisis, and create the materials for future generations' Vermont homes.

Most housing in Vermont is built using lumber from trees commonly grown in our region. Sustainable forestry practices and planting fast-growing conifers like spruce and pine help ensure a supply of locally grown lumber to meet our future needs.

At the same time, the changing climate presents challenges to our forest ecosystems, including wildlife. By planting species well adapted to the future climate, such as oak and hickory, we can ensure that our forests will remain healthy and productive over the long term.

Moderate walking and lifting is required for planting, but all are welcome to attend even if not able to actively plant trees. Rain or shine. Come after work! We look forward to connecting with you.
